If you are looking after someone, the idea of moving on can be daunting. You might feel guilty about the idea of leaving home if someone in your family relies on you at the moment. This probably means that the person you are looking after could do with more help from other people – you need to be able to live your life as well as being there for your family.
If you have been looking after someone for a long time, you might feel like it is the only thing you are good at. Even if you don’t have many qualifications, there are lots of ways of moving on with your life. You could:
- Go to college.

- Become a trainee or modern apprentice; www.dfes.gov.uk/youngpeople/ and in Scotland: www.scottish-enterprise.com/modernapprenticeships.
- One day you will probably want to find a place of your own.
