Sam has been a Youth and Community Worker for eleven years and has worked with young people in lots of different settings. She has not been a young carer herself but does have the experience of looking after her two, very energetic, small children and dog. When not working Sam enjoys shopping, seeing her friends, going out for meals and catching up on Glee. She loves anything purple, dancing and chocolate, lots of it!
Ewan is qualified in Youth and Community Work, and has worked in various youth projects and advice and listening services. Some of his specialist subjects are cruise ships, young carers' issues and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but he's happy to talk about pretty much anything, really. He is a staggering 32 years old and proud of it. He's just over 6 feet tall, probably drinks too much coffee, likes all sorts of music and is very fond of monkeys.
Not so long ago, Claudia and computers were busy (and happy!) spending a lifetime together when suddenly, she realised how much more there was to life than troubleshooting networks and trying to fight hackers. After that she set about downsizing her IT skills and finding a new role - one that involved spending more time with human beings. So far, this has included music workshops with young prisoners and groups of students with learning disabilities. When not at a keyboard of some kind (piano or PC), Claudia can be found immersed in documentaries, biographies, more music, or searching the freezer for frozen Jaffa Cakes.
Michele has been Website Manager at The Trust for nearly three years... before that she worked in various guises as an online editor, translator, software engineer, English teacher and volunteer... one way or another she has always ended up messing around with words or the web! She loves the mountains, rain, travelling to far flung places at the least excuse and learning new languages. She drinks too much tea and has a deep-seated tomato ketchup phobia (it’s the devil’s condiment - probably).
Danni has worked at The Trust since 2005 and before that used to manage a young carers service in North London. She first learnt about young carers when she volunteered at a young carers group at university…so many moons ago! In her spare time, Danni loves skiing fast (but always with a helmet on), swimming outdoors in lakes and rivers and getting out and about on Diamond- her bike! When she’s not rushing around, she likes finding out about stuff, chatting to her mates, and reading- one of her favourite books is "To Kill a Mockingbird".
Fiza joined The Trust as an Online Editor in 2010. In the past she has worked with children in Pakistan, campaigned for peace in the world and spent an awful lot of time online. She loves writing and blogging about issues that she cares about, and is inspired by how media and technology can bring people together so easily. In the oddest of times, Fiza can be found sneaking out her chocolates from her bag and enjoying her favourite home-made latte – in fact she wonders what the world would have been like without the two.
Susannah has worked with children and young people in a variety of settings. She has also worked with adults with disabilities and their carers. Susannah has one child and has spent the past five years studying so understands how difficult it is to study and care for someone at the same time. Susannah loves swimming, reading and eating jelly babies (though not all at the same time) and believes you can’t watch too much Spongebob Squarepants.© Carers Trust 2012 - Carers Trust is a registered charity in England and Wales (1145181) and in Scotland (SC042870).
