Marissa's Story

Hello, my name is Marissa and i am 11 years old and i am a young carer because my mum has MS and i have to look after her all the time she doesn’t work and my brother is much older than me he is 18 and he doesn’t do anything.

i have to help her a lot because my dad has to work long shifts and i am at home most of the time.

i walk to school and walk home i sometimes get to go out but not a lot i get really upset when my mum is having a hard time she is mostly in hospital and last year she was in for my birthday and i was really upset

i sometimes cry when i go to bed but at school my friends know when i am upset because it’s how i act and they always make me feel better.

i like spending time with her because she has good days and bad days when she has good days we go into town but when she has bad days we stay in and i make her lots of drinks i even make dinners all on my own.
