I have not started to feel better
No one can say how long it will take you to feel better about losing someone close to you. You might feel ok for a while then feel upset again. You might feel the feelings very strongly sometimes even after several years.
Grief can be very lonely and feel like no one understands you. If you find any of these things happening, then it is important that you find ways of getting extra help:
- Feeling like taking risks a lot, fighting or mis-using drugs or alcohol.
- Feeling that you cannot talk to family or friends for a long time after the person has died.
- Losing interest in schoolwork for a long time.
- Feeling very depressed or not liking yourself.
- Losing interest in doing things that you enjoy for a long time.
Some people look for help or someone to talk to many years after the person has died.
