YCNet Summer Photo Contest
We’re pleased to announce the winners of this year’s competition.
And we’d like to say "well done!" to everyone who took part! Check out all the entries here.
Below you can read more about the winning young carers and their photos which we’ll be using across YCNet.
FIRST PLACE
jazjazy in the "mental health" category.
"im 12 years old and i care for my dad. The mental health is a picture is of my dad jumping off some steps. Mental health problems can make you feel out of control and some times you put yourself in danger without realising it. Having problems like this can be a bit wild and unpredictable and I think this photo looks a bit wild and dangerous, so that you want to catch the person who is jumping."
SECOND PLACE
jazjazy in the "independence" category.
"The independance photo is of me running down an ally way. It is meant to represent me out running from all my problems and being free. The ally is sort of my problems because it is a bit scary and I don’t like going down there, so I run so its not so scary."
JOINT THIRD PLACE
Carer4parents in the "relationships" category.
"Im Carer4Parents known as c4p, I help look after my parents. I choose to do this picture because it showed that I care personally about other people and my parents and also that I care as in looking after them."
and Beth-custard in the "looking after siblings" category.
"hi im beth-custard, im 16 and i care for my mum! the massage that im trying to get across is that normaly an adult would care for the younger children, young carers have to there instead to care and protect their siblings, wich can be range from changing a nappy to going to the school open evening! and it can be really hard at times, but it can also be very rewarding aswell!"
