Hi everyone,

You might be aware that the government has recently published a set of plans about what it intends to do to help improve things for carers (including young carers!) over the next few years. In fact, several of you helped with that by telling them your thoughts and suggestions through YCNet, so thanks again for that!

So, the strategy has now been released, and we'd like to hear what you think of it. If you click on the link below, you'll see a short summary of the plans that are in there. (Don't worry - it's only one page!) Have a look, then post your opinions about it on this thread.

I think that it looks really good. One thing, though, some young carers won't tell anyone that they are young carers because they don't want to be bullied or don't want people's sympathy, and they can't get help if they don't tell people. I'm not suggesting that the government zap people's brains to make them announce it to the world, but I think that special assemblies in school and having the welfare officer at school or someone talk with kids who the school believe might be young carers. It might make them ready to talk about being a young carer and then they can get the help they need.

It's just something random I was thinking about and I wasn't sure if it was covered in the plan, sorry
