Sam's blog

Thoughts and ramblings from Sam, one of the ycnet workers.

Wet noses and waggy tails..

No I havn't gone completely mad, I am currently dogsitting for Archie, a rather lovely black labrador and I have to say he's a lot more fun than my guinea pigs!  This morning we went for a walk in the woods and I am seriously considering us getting a puppy later on this year.  I just have to work out if we can cope with the early mornings, chewed up slippers and wees on the floor!

In memory of Results Day....!

I'm hoping that all of you who are getting A or AS results today are doing ok!  When I got my results I remember feeling sick with worry, in the end my results were nothing like I had expected so all my plans went out the window!  I ended up taking a year out which I hadn't planned on, working in France then going to university a year later to study a completely different subject which I loved.

Really, although it feels so scary if your results aren't what you'd expected there are loads of other options out there.  Don't panic, get some advice and take your time in thinking about what to do next.  You can go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/onelife/your_world/school_studying/results/ for some expert help and advice.

Good luck!

The life of a YCNet worker!

Well the honour of starting the YCNet blogging off has fallen to me, Sam!  So here I am on this cloudy Monday having just come back from a quick shopping trip to buy my little boy’s first set of school shoes ( aw! ) and of course the necessary school bag – he chose Scooby Doo, a good choice I think!
Do you know this is the first blog I have ever written so if none of you have ever done one you’re in good company…. I’m reliably informed that it’s the same as an online diary so in that spirit this has been my weekend:
Saturday – checked emails, entries to the photo competition and discussion boards then got the train to London to meet friends and go and see Dirty Dancing – the musical.  Oooh, wow, it was fabulous!  I sang along, did a wee bit of dancing around in my chair and enjoyed it hugely.
Sunday – got train back and ended up in the Bermuda Triangle of trains, otherwise known as Swindon.  Something very odd happens in Swindon, trains seem to go missing either just before or after it, to be specific, the train I’m on!  So I arrived back just in time to open the chat room ( apologies to anyone who had to wait until 4.05 for me to appear! ) for the usual Sunday chat.
As for today, well so far Ewan and I have been answering Agony Aunt messages, listening to one of our bosses, Alex, on Radio 2 talking about young carers issues and soon it’ll be time for our next chat session where Mondays is “Two YCnet workers for the price of one” day, hurrah!
